Communicating:
Chatterbox - This is the little chat room you see on the side of your screen. The chatterbox is probably one of the easiest ways to communicate with your fellow journalists. Be careful not to promote though - this will earn you a chat ban.
Promoting - Promoting is against the rules on AllJournal. You can not publicly speak of your works in order to get reads. To see more on promoting, click here.
IM - To send a message to someone you can click their name in the chatterbox, type their name and message into the fields below the chatterbox, or hover over their name as it appears on the site and click "send message."
Notes - Notes are displayed when a "friend" posts a new journal, when someone comments on your work, when someone joins a group you created, when someone signs your guestbook, or when someone replies to your comment in a forum or journal.
Quote - Quotes can be changed at any time, and are simply text that says how you're feeling, what you're doing, etc. This can be changed by scrolling to bottom of the right sidebar, and clicking "Your mood is" above the search boxes. Remember to change your "Mood" too!
Positions:
Greeters - These volunteers welcome new members to the site. They also answer any questions you might have about site navigation, and they go out of their way to comment on journals. On the sister sites, Allpoetry and Storywrite, they run a contest every month for new members. They are the 'welcoming staff' of the site.
Kevin - This guy created AllJournal! He manages the greeters and moderators, fixes any errors the moderators can't fix and usually plays an April Fools joke every year. He is the 'Ruler' of the site.
Moderators - These volunteers deal with all the technical problems of the site. Bugs, glitches, errors - they manage it all. They also manage the discipline on the site, handle complaints, and ban members who consistantly break the rules. They are both the 'police' and 'doctors' of the site.
Memberships:
Free - These members are those who do not pay to be a part of the website. They recieve the basic services necessary to publish Journals. On AllJournal, every member is free, but everyone receives gold features.
Silver - Silver memberships have yet to be introduced to AllJournal, but on AllPoetry, and StoryWrite they receive minimal advertising, renewal bonus points, custom backgrounds, lists, bolding, italicizing and underlining priveliges, and they are able to add a photo to each journal.
Gold - Currently, everyone has a Gold Membership, though it doesn't cost as it does on AllPoetry and StoryWrite. On StoryWrite and Allpoetry, gold members receive no advertising, additional renewal points, custom backgrounds, the option to appear online, rich text HTML features, lists, and much more.
More to come!
